A Lot For Everyone at Lake Wynonah

The beautiful surroundings of Lake Wynonah offer the finest in serene living and recreational activities.

Of the 1,476 acre community, over 200 acres consist of two lakes.  Lake Wynonah is 2 1/2 miles long and covers 175 acres.  Fawn Lake is three quarters of a mile long and covers 27 acres.

For boaters there is a marina and seven docking areas which residents may rent for the season to keep their crafts.  All types of motor and sail boats may be used on the large lake and nonpowered and electric-powered boats may be sailed on the small lake.

In addition, there are tennis, basketball and volleyball courts; a lodge which can be rented by property owners for parties; numerous picnic areas surrounding the picturesque lakes for the convenience and enjoyment of property owners; and a Tomohawk-shaped swimming pool.

The community has an active civic association that sponsors many activites for property owners, such as annual Halloween, New Year's Eve, Valentine's Day and Mardi Gras parties.

The Mardi Gras is a fun packed three day weekend in the summer with something for everyone, including a disco and pool-side party, small sailboat regatta, tennis tournament, boat parade, dixie land night, pancake breakfast, lakeside band concert and children's games.

In addition, the community has an active boating and fishing committee responsible for keeping both lakes fully stocked with trout, bass, northern pike, catfish and walleye.

There is also an annual fishing rodeo in June, one of the most popular events at the lake.

There are also a number of popular winter sports enjoyed at the lake such as skating, snow mobiling.

Work on Lake Wynonah began in 1970 under the direction of American Realty of Memphis, Tenn.  In 1974, the lake was sold out and then became Lake Wynonah Property Owners' Association which now governs the community's operation.  There are approximately 1080 homes at the lake.  Over 750 families live at Lake Wynonah year-round.

Property owners at the community pay the lowest association dues for the lake's maintenance in the area.  There are eight full-time security guards that provide 24-hour protection.  The community also has its own maintenance crew to keep the lake's 31 miles of roads in repair and clean in the winter.  An extensive road program was completed last year and more work is planned this year in additonal to the construction of new docks.

State and federal inspectors have found the lakes in excellent condition.

Lake Wynonah also has its own municipal authority whose board of directors is composed of propety owners.

The community spans Wayne and South Manheim Township, both of which have fine schools districts, Blue Mountain and Schuylkill Haven Area, respectively, for propery owners children.

This lake is ideally located, a half hour's drive from both Reading and Pottsville, and one hour from Harrisburg.
